Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is at the southern end of the North Island and has been called one of the coolest little capitals in the world. It is certainly the windiest!
Our Venue
The Congress will be taking place at Rutherford House, Victoria University of Wellington. This modern and light building is near the waterfront and close to both the bus and train stations. It’s a flat walk from many of our city’s accommodation and eating locations. And it should be noted that there is no parking as we will be a short walk/bus/taxi away. Other attractions
Wellington is also home to The National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa and the Wellington Reading Rooms of Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kawanatanga. Both are a short walk from our Congress venue, in the National Library building on Molesworth Street. We will be organising tours of these repositories for the Thursday before and the Monday after the Congress, as well as the new joint Wellington City Heritage and Archives. We’ll provide further information on how to pre-order records closer to the time.
Once you tear yourself away from all things family history, there are many other attractions in Wellington to keep you busy. And further afield you can find the vineyards of the Wairarapa. We will provide further information on day trips you might like to take before or after the Congress when we have confirmed details.
